WHO WE ARE:
The Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) is a national non-partisan, self-funded organization with over 100 clubs across Canada.
​
Since its founding in 1919, CFUW has advocated to improve the status of women and non-binary individuals, and to promote human rights, public education, social justice and peace. The CFUW Southport Club was founded in 1989 in the municipality of Saugeen Shores, Ontario (Port Elgin, Southampton and surrounding areas). CFUW Southport currently has nearly 100 active members and ew members are always welcome (no degree or diploma required).
​
CFUW Southport offers opportunities for our members to learn and socialize through:

Program: monthly membership meetings which include guest speakers;
​​
-
Interest Groups: including book clubs, hiking groups, dinner club and more;
​​
-
Advocacy Committee: focussing on issues of local, national and global concern, such as environmental protection and climate change, improving long-term care and addressing food insecurity;
-
Other Activities keeping members engaged including annual events such as the December 6th Vigil Against Violence Against Women, now in it's 32 year (Hyperlink to Vigil), strengthening relationships with our Saugeen First Nations neighbours through action to address the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission;

Scholarships supporting female students, women and non-binary individuals to reach their educational goals through Scholarships.
​
